Ambermax 50 (Givaudan)

Ambermax™ is a high-impact woody-amber fragrance ingredient from Givaudan, supplied as a 50% dilution in Dowanol™ TPM to make this exceptionally powerful material more practical to handle and incorporate into fragrance formulations.

Its olfactory profile is characterized by an extremely powerful, dry, warm, ambery-woody character, with pronounced cedar-like and mineral facets. The effect is modern, diffusive, and highly substantive, providing a distinctly dry and elegant woody-amber signature rather than a sweet, resinous interpretation of amber.

One of the defining qualities of Ambermax™ is its exceptional olfactory power. It can bring remarkable presence and persistence to a composition and can reinforce the perception of woody and amber structures without requiring the material itself to become the obvious central theme of the fragrance. This makes it particularly valuable for contemporary perfumery, where projection, structure, and long-lasting woody depth are often desired.

The 50% dilution is an important part of this commercial grade. The product is not simply neat Ambermax™: half of the supplied preparation consists of Ambermax™ and the remainder is the Dowanol™ TPM carrier. This provides a more manageable form of an otherwise extremely potent fragrance molecule and should be taken into account whenever comparing dosage or price with neat materials or other dilutions.

In formulation, Ambermax™ can function effectively as a woody-amber structural material, modifier, and performance enhancer. It can reinforce cedar, amber, dry woods, leather, and modern woody accords while providing diffusion, dryness, volume, and lasting character.

It works particularly well with cedarwood, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood materials, musks, leather accords, spices, tobacco effects, oud-style compositions, and other modern amber-woody molecules. It can also provide an interesting dry counterpoint to floral or sweeter materials, giving the overall fragrance greater definition.

Ambermax™ should not be thought of as a traditional “amber accord” composed around sweet balsams and vanilla. Its identity belongs much more to the modern dry woody-amber family: powerful, diffusive, persistent, and structurally useful.
